How We Get Paid
A plain-English explanation of how Comparify earns money, who pays us, and why it never costs you extra.
Our service is free to you
Comparing health insurance with Comparify, speaking with one of our advisors, and switching to or joining a health fund through our service is free. You will never be charged a fee by Comparify for using our website or our advice service.
Who provides the advice
Health insurance advice is provided by Comparify Pty Ltd (ABN 78 665 886 644) and administered by the ItsMy Group (ABN 85 167 289 965). Comparify operates on the ItsMy Group platform, which gives our advisors access to one of Australia's largest health insurance broker panels.
Comparify and the ItsMy Group are both signatories to the Private Health Insurance Intermediaries Code of Conduct, which sets standards for how intermediaries like us must act when comparing, recommending and arranging private health insurance.
How we are paid
If a Comparify advisor recommends a more suitable product with one of our partner health funds, and you join that fund through our service, the health fund pays a commission for that referral. For most funds this is a one-off payment made when you join. For some funds it is paid in instalments over several years while you remain a member.
Because Comparify operates on the ItsMy Group platform, these payments are received and administered by the ItsMy Group under our licensee arrangement, and Comparify is remunerated by the ItsMy Group from those commissions.
If you use our comparison but do not join a fund through us, or you choose to join a fund directly or through someone else, no commission is paid to us.
You pay the same price as going direct
Health funds do not charge you more because you joined through an intermediary. The premium you pay is set by the fund and is the same whether you join through Comparify or go to the fund directly. Our commission is paid by the fund out of its own marketing and distribution budget; it is not added to your premium and you do not pay anything extra to the fund as a result of joining through us.
How we keep our advice unbiased
Our advisors are required to recommend the policy that best meets the needs you tell us about, not the policy that pays the most. To support this, our advisors' remuneration is not based on which fund they recommend, and the amount a fund pays for a referral is not disclosed to the advisor making the recommendation. The Private Health Insurance Intermediaries Code of Conduct requires that our recommendations are based on your needs, and our arrangements are structured to support that.
The funds we compare and recommend
Our advisors can only recommend and arrange policies from health funds on the ItsMy Group broker panel, and we only receive commission from those funds. Not every Australian health fund is on the panel. This means there may be a suitable product in the market that we are not able to recommend or arrange for you. Where we are able to, we will let you know if a product outside our panel may better suit your needs so you can consider it directly.
Other comparisons on our website
From time to time we may also help you compare other products, such as energy plans. Where we do, we may receive a referral fee or commission from the provider if you switch or sign up through our website. The same principle applies: there is no charge to you, and the price you pay the provider is not increased because you came through Comparify.
General advice only
Our website and comparison tools provide general information only and do not take into account your personal objectives, financial situation or needs. Before acting on anything on our website, or on a recommendation from one of our advisors, please consider whether it is appropriate for your circumstances and read the product information provided by the fund or provider.
