Free extras value calculator

Is your extras cover paying for itself — or just costing you extra?

Dental, glasses, physio, hearing aids, chiro. Most people over 60 have no idea whether what they claim back is worth what they pay in. This five-minute calculator works it out for you — and tells you what to do about it.

  • No policy documents needed
  • Takes about 5 minutes
  • Free, no obligation

What the calculator does

  • Adds up what you really claim

Tell us roughly how often you see the dentist, physio or optometrist, and what you spend. We put a dollar figure on what your extras actually give back.

  • Shows what you pay against what you get

Your yearly extras premium on one side, your benefits on the other. The gap — either way — is the answer.

  • Spots cover you're paying for but never use

Pregnancy, orthodontics, gym memberships… if it's in your policy and not in your life, you'll see it.

How it works

  1. Tell us about your policy

Who's on it, which fund you're with, your state and how you pay. No policy documents needed — there's an "I'm not sure which policy I have" option all the way through.

  2. Enter what you pay for extras

Per month or per year, whichever your fund shows. If it's bundled with hospital cover, we'll help you split it.

  3. Tick what you claim on, and roughly how often

Dental, optical, physio, hearing, chiro, podiatry and more. Best guesses are fine — nobody remembers every receipt.

  4. See your result

A plain verdict on your scorecard — "your extras are paying for themselves", "you're close to break-even", "your cover is doing its job — at a price" or "your extras may not be earning their keep" — with the dollars either side of it. A Comparify advisor can then compare extras across 10 health funds if you'd like them to.

What you'll walk away with

  • A clear yes / no / maybe on whether your extras are worth what you pay.
  • The dollar gap, so you can see it rather than guess it.
  • Which services are doing the work — and which you're paying for and never use.
  • The option (never the obligation) to have a Comparify advisor compare extras policies across 10 health funds and find one that fits how you actually use it.

Built with over-60s in mind

Your extras needs change after 60. Hearing aids, dental crowns and implants, new glasses every couple of years, physio after a knee or hip, podiatry — the things you claim now are not the things you claimed at 45. Most extras policies were never re-checked to match. That's what this tool is for.

Questions about the calculator

Is it really free?

Yes. The calculator is free and you don't need to give us your contact details to see whether extras are worth it — your scorecard comes first, and your details are only asked for afterwards if you want an advisor to compare policies for you. That's free too.

Do I need my policy documents?

No. Rough figures are fine — how often you go, roughly what it costs, and what you pay for extras each month or year.

What if I don't have extras cover at all?

It's designed for people who already hold extras — if you don't, start with a full comparison instead.

What happens after I get my result?

Nothing, unless you want it to. If you'd like a Comparify advisor to compare extras across 10 health funds, you can book a call. Starts at 60 members who switch hospital and extras cover through this service receive a $100 gift card — terms apply.
